Expected to cost more than Meta, the $10 billion Indiana data center will be situated in Lebanon, Ind. and have a capacity of over 1 gigawatt. For context, that’s enough juice to power hundreds of thousands of homes.

Meta said it will be used to support Meta AI workloads as well as its core products and services and is among its largest ever Meta AI infrastructure expansion investments.

Meta revealed during its Q4 earnings report earlier this month that it expects to invest up to $135 billion by 2026 as it pours money into AI. The company invested $72.2 billion last year. Meta is n’t the only tech company digging cash into AI this time. Rival advertiser Google( GOOG, GOOGL) said during its own earnings report that it would be investing$ 180 billion in 2026. Amazon( AMZN) said it expects to spend$ 200 billion.

News of the big investments from Big Tech shook investors in Google and Amazon while Meta shares rallied more than 10% in afternoon trading at the time. Since then, Meta job creation in Boone County has come back down to Earth.

Meta’s new data center is among dozens — if not hundreds — being planned across the U.S. as companies large and small scramble to cater to AI’s soaring power needs.

Meta said it will cover the cost of all energy used by the data center, contribute $1 million annually for the next two decades to the Boone REMC Community Fund to help locals with energy bills and provide emergency water utility assistance.
